Excerpt: What Americans want, trucks deliver. Because trucks move goods, they also reflect the amount America consumes. Carlisle witnesses the transportation of America’s consumption with every truck that passes through the town. As a result, Carlisle personally feels the impact of the truck industry and thus America’s consumption. While the truck industry’s presence in Carlisle has benefited the local economy, the industry has had significant negative impacts on the air quality and business district in Carlisle.
