Air quality action day declared for Tuesday

DEP has declared Air Quality Action Day for Susquehanna Valley, PA, on Tuesday, Dec 8
Tomorrow’s Forecast
Tuesday, Dec 8: 102 AQI Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups Particle Pollution (2.5 microns)

Extended Forecast
Wednesday, Dec 9: 94 AQI Moderate Particle Pollution (2.5 microns)
Current Conditions: At 2 p.m. EST this Monday afternoon, high pressure nearby continues to produce little wind and elevated levels of fine particulate. This will continue to be the case into the day Tuesday as we expect a inversion to develop overnight with near calm winds. A little mixing this afternoon has caused PM2.5 to drop some, but overall averages for today will average in the code ORANGE range. Tonight will be clear to start, then low clouds and areas of dense fog will roll in later on. Code ORANGE levels of fine particulate are again likely. ***Tuesday’s forecast: High pressure will maintain it’s grip on the area for the day Tuesday. It will be foggy to start, then sunshine will again return in most locations by the afternoon. A little mixing will occur in the afternoon, but will not be enough to keep fine particulate concentrations out of the code ORANGE range. High temperatures will be close to 50 degrees. ***
